Area 17, Artist Book with DVD, 5" x 7.5", 2009, Selected Stills

Area 17 is a companion book to my video piece with the same name. While I understand the two to function as separate objects, the book attempts to delineate the scientific research that supports the video. The book is created using stills from the video and original poetic text in conjunction with the factual knowledge concerning human vision and perception. The inclusion of the book is a particular bridge between dense facts and the experiential video, and it strives to bring together the two disparate fields of art and science.
