You Magenta, My Pink, Artist Book with DVD, 5" x 7.5", 2007, Selected Stills

You Magenta, My Pink is a companion book to the video, Permanent Magenta, You Ate My Pink. This book is a tactile contrast to the ephemeral quality of video and its audible rhythm. The content repurposes the video stills, plucking the frames from the persistence of vision while continuing to challenge the structure of its original roundelet. The translated words included in the book were adapted from online translators. The online translations are so far removed from poetic language, and it is this distanced quality that I was interested repurposing on the white page. Despite the distance, there is an organic quality in the way that certain lines change and modulate into new words.
